Lighting Guide: Lamps for The Kitchen

The modern person loves to cook. Many Europeans put a virtue in cooking good food for themselves and their families. And good craftsmanship requires the right equipment. In addition to kitchen appliances, the right knives and a good stove, the right lighting is an important tool when cooking.

The essential thing is to consider functionality and durability and therefore choose lamps that can withstand being used. Also think about whether the lamp has places where dirt can accumulate and whether you can easily wipe it off after they've been hanging for a long time.

Depending on how your kitchen is decorated, you can choose different solutions. Many have smaller pendants hanging for a good overview, but directional wall lamps can also be a good idea. You can also choose free-hanging LED bulbs , which do not take up much space and are very decorative.

Fritz Hansen

If you choose pendants , it is a good idea to choose something in a robust design, as the kitchen is a place where you should prioritize functionality over lavish chandeliers.
Here, as an example, we recommend hanging 2 or more of the very popular Caravaggio series from Fritz Hansen/Lightyears.

The lamp is available in aluminum or glass and provides a super usable, downward-facing light. We recommend avoiding the matte finishes if you expect the lamp to be exposed to a lot of frying steam and other dirt. The shiny models are easy to wipe with a wet cloth, so they can maintain the beautiful and modern look.

Below is the lamp in the beautiful opal glass finish, which is also a good choice for the kitchen counter.

VIPP

Another Danish brand that is known for their durability is VIPP . This brand is best known for their popular trash cans and other products for the bathroom and has now also released lamps in the classic and simple VIPP design. The lamps are built to last, just like other VIPP products. Note, however, that these lamps do not have a glossy surface and therefore are a little harder to dry clean over time. Therefore, we recommend that you avoid putting these lamps too close to the stove and exhaust. For example, use the VIPP wall light on the side of a cupboard or to create light over a kitchen counter.

The wall light is available in a large and small version. The small wall spot can be used in tight corners, while the large model has a longer arm and an extra joint for adjustment.

When it comes to wall lamps, there are countless options that can be used in the kitchen. Wall lamps are perfect in the kitchen as they are adjustable and can be directionally adjusted as needed.

CPH Lighting's Oblique wall lamp , for example, is a classic design that is very durable. The stylish lamp fits into most kitchens and is also available in several different colors - some more challenging than others.

In The Tube

If you are into something more modern and interesting, you can look at the lamps from In The Tube , which are made to be used almost everywhere. The lamps are extremely durable, which is why they can also be used in the bathroom or outside. In The Tube is light in a glass tube and has a cool and industrial look. All models are available in silver , gold and copper , so you can choose a look that suits your kitchen. The lamps looks especially good in darker kitchens, as you can see below.
