Design: George Carwardine for Anglepoise. Concept:
A lamp series by Sir Kenneth Grange from 2004. It offers the same flexibility but with a new fresh design.
The Anglepoise lamp series is known for its recognisable industrial expression. Lamps from Anglepoise are characterised by very high quality and great functionality. Especially the unique spring makes it possible and easy to adjust the lamp to the exact position you want.
The story behind Anglepoise starts in 1932 when George Carwardine invents the spring that is used for the Anglepoise lamps and begins to sell them. Sales increase rapidly and he seeks help from Herbert Terry and his sons. In 1933, Herbert Terry and sons get the license to manufacture the lamp from George Carwadine and that is still how the arrangement is today.
Anglepoise has developed new designs throughout their history but the original version is still the most well-known of the lamps from Anglepoise - The Original 1227.
In 2015, Anglepoise developed the lamp The Original 1227 Mini. This version is two thirds of the original size and is thereby a lamp more typical of our time than the original version.
Another known Anglepoise lamp is Type 1228. This is designed by Kenneth Grange in 2008. The lamp offers the same functionality as the original lamp but with a more modern expression.
