The Noguchi Coffee Table, designed in 1944, reflects Noguchi's work with bronze and marble sculptures, uniting form and function in a unique way. In his design process for the Coffee Table, Isamu Noguchi translated the biomorphic aesthetic of his sculptural works into a piece of furniture with characteristic organic shapes. Presumably for this reason, Noguchi himself considered the table to be his best furniture design.
The table consists of two identical, solid wooden elements placed at a right angle to provide stable support for the heavy, robust glass top. The coffee table is available in black ash, maple or walnut , contributing to its sculptural expression.
With its organic and abstract design, the Noguchi Coffee Table is both eye-catching and harmonious. It is surprising how the heavy glass top rests so calmly and solidly on the simple but well-thought-out construction.
