Danish designer Verner Panton (1926-1998) was a leading and important part of the heyday of Danish furniture design. Panton had close relations with Arne Jacobsen, Hans J. Wegner and Poul Henningsen whose expression and design language are loved by people worldwide. Despite being part of the important mid-century of Danish furniture design, Verner Panton's expression and design philosophy were far from the simple style that his Danish and Scandinavian colleagues followed. His expression was provocative, playful, futuristic and full of personality. The passion for exploring the options of unconventional types of material and ostentatious colours was an essential part if the DNA of many of his sculptural pieces.
